Meet Luke
I used to think I knew exactly who I was.
I was arrogant. I thought I was pretty much invincible. Underneath that, I was a lot less sure of myself than I looked.
A man was strong. A man was in charge. A man didn't show weakness. That was my idea of it, and I thought I was nailing it.
Good mates. Hot girlfriend. Sport. Work. Cars. A future mapped out.
Life was fucking peachy.
Then it all fell apart.
My parents split up. No one thought it possible. My younger brother came to live with me. My responsibilities had doubled now.
Then I had an accident in the Army Reserves. The military was going to be my future. In a very short space of time, it wasn't.
Faith. Family. Commitment. The military. My future. All of it broken at once.
Get on with it. That became the motto. So I did.
I drank. The drinking became drugs. I wasn't trying to find myself. I was trying not to feel myself.
I made poor decisions. I hurt people. I reacted instead of responding.
There were consequences.
But underneath all of that, I was searching. I just didn't know what for.

Finding the tools
At twenty-seven, I started travelling.
The world looked different from out there. Different languages, religions and cultures, but underneath it all, people wanted much the same things.
To love and be loved. To belong. To have purpose.
I didn't properly look at my own values until my early forties.
By then I'd done a lot of work on myself. I'd left much of the ratbag behaviour behind. But I still couldn't name what was underneath it.
Then I came across a set of values cards. Something clicked.
The things I'd been trying to understand about myself suddenly had names. I could see them. Question them. Choose them.
Why didn't I do this thirty years ago?
Because when I know what's important to me, I've got something to come back to when life gets messy. When I'm angry. Scared. Triggered. Lost.
I have a compass.
Why I'm building Your Core
I'm making the tool I wish I'd had. Not a test that tells you who you are. Not a list of values you're supposed to have. A compass. Something to start with. Something that invites you to go looking.
If I'd understood my values earlier, I could have stayed out of a fuckload of trouble. I could have been kinder. Less reactive. Caught myself sooner.
Since then, I've sat with hundreds of men, in circles, one-on-one and at gatherings. And I've noticed something. Men speak a different language. We don't always get there face-to-face, talking it all through. We get there side-by-side. Shoulder-to-shoulder. Around a fire. In the car. Walking together. Working together.
There was nothing built for that. Every values deck I found was designed for a different kind of conversation.
So I built one for us.

What this means for you
You don't need to be in the shit to use this. You just need to want to know yourself better than you do right now.
My mission is to lead heart-centred healing, inspiring all to use their gifts in tune with nature. Good Better Best Men. Your Core. The Bali Sojourn. Different expressions of the same vision: helping men come home to themselves.
Through cards. Through circles. Through gatherings. Through retreats. Through the work itself.
You can start with the cards. Or come sit in a circle. Either way, the invitation is the same:
Know yourself. Know what matters. Live from there.
